Sleep apnea treatment: Training parents needThe training has shown a lot of success and emerged to be the best type of training. The best way to address this situation in kids is what is burning up a number of people as the recently found medication seems to do well in adults.

Intense research has been done to get the treatment for children and the method is quite different from the one used on adults.

Parents are said to have taken part in the treatment process and thus more are recommended to do the same. To help treat the children faster, parents are being trained in large numbers. This treatment format has proved to work so much better than any other type of medication.

Are there any side effects?

According to the research, training basing on how parents behave has shown o side effects compared to use of medicine on the children. The training has also done parent-child relationships so much good than harm and the bonds are much stronger than before.

Different formats of dealing with the problem were established by Charach Alice. She deals with Psychology at Toronto University found in Canada, also has an MSc and an MD.

Beginning from 1980 to the month of November in the year 2011, the group of researchers did an intense collection of information from some five databases that dealt with medicine. They ensured that the information they got met their requirements. Kids who were below 6 years were used for the study. The children had been examined by different clinics and were known to have the disruptive behavior.

The basis of the research was to see how the different types of treatments recommended for the kids. That was mandatory so that it could be authorized to be in this medical review. The final analysis had studies with a total count of 55.

Role of parents

Parent train on behavior, daycare both at school and at home, Concerta and Ritalin as a mediation, are the major types of treatments that were put into consideration.

Talking about parents being trained on behavior, they were taught on how to control their children’s behavior more efficiently. They were taught on using rewards on their kids rather than doing it the hard way [punitively].

We can say, parents were advised to congratulate their kids whenever they portrayed good behavior and offer consequences on bad behavior instead of punishing the children.

Apart from that, parents are made aware on some other issues which include normal behavior and development issues they might be facing and seem to be of great challenge to them. The children’s improvements were used to monitor the parent’s effectiveness.

All the information regarding on how the different methods worked was filed together and produced as one document. However, according to the findings, the parent-training seemed to give the most positive feedback; thus was the most recommended.

From all the 424 children whose parents got involved in the studies showed that there was actually good feedback showing how effective the treatment was.

The research that was included a number of studies which summed up to 15 looked at two common drugs that were used. The drugs were compared on how effective they were. Methylphenidate /a fake pill were compared. From all studies done only one out of the 114 kids did respond positively towards the medicine offered. This made the researchers conclude that the information was vital to be added in the research.

There was less evidence that would have been used to show how effective the use of medicine would also be advisable, compared to treatment using the other forms.

There was appetite loss, assertiveness was lost, irritability, withdrawal from people and to up with stomachaches, were the side effects related to taking methylphenidate. On use of low doses, the effects were less likely to be common compared to those who used high doses.

It is not recommended for children to use drugs, according to the side effects. As the drug [methylphenidate] is found ineffective. It is known to be of good use on the adults. This is according to Elliot Glen who is an expert of Daily. He also works at the Behavioral and Psychiatry sciences department in the University of Stanford, as a professor who works on matters related to clinics.

By saying this, it does not mean that one is not to use drugs at all.

Medication as well as approaching behavior treatments cannot all be effective unless they are maintained. Parents should not think that treatment is not available widely.

Research basing on daycare or school interventions did not show consistency during the research. The best way to deal with these children is not easy at all.

The data collected and tabled out showed the best way to tackle the problem was the parent-train method. If this condition persists in children as they grow up daily, different means of medication may be recommended.

Dr. Elliot tells us that the disorder may require changing overtime as it has no problem that is specific. It has no permanent cure but the problem can be done away with as they develop.

This study was made aware to people in the ‘Pediatrics Journal’. A United States agency that deals with research on quality healthcare located at Rockville in Maryland saw into it that the research findings were published.
