Another common life-saving activity that everyone must know is how to treat bleeding. If you see someone bleeding, the goal should be to stop the bleeding as soon as you can. Here’s what you should do if you encounter someone who is bleeding.

  • Make them lie down and elevate the area that’s bleeding. Cover them in a blanket, if available.
  • Clean the wound site of any dirt or debris. Don’t try to remove any deeply embedded objects.
  • Take a bandage or a clean cloth and apply pressure to the site for about 20 minutes.
  • Apply pressure to the artery if the bleeding doesn’t stop.
  • When the bleeding stops, let the wound site remain covered in the bandage and don’t move the injured body part until help arrives.

3.      Save Someone from Drowning

If you find yourself in a situation where someone is drowning, then you can help save their life. If you are a skilled swimmer and are sure that you will be able to get the person back to safety, then you can swim to them. Otherwise, experts suggest you use the reach, throw, row, go method.

Reach: Try to reach the person if they are near the edge of the dock or pool. You can use anything that can help you reach them like a tree branch. Only get in the water if you are sure you will be able to control yourself.

Throw: Take a safety ring and throw it in the water.

Row: If you have a boat available, row it down to the drowning person and bring them back to safety.

Go: Swim to the person if all the other methods don’t work out. Make sure you put your safety first before diving into the water to save someone.
