Susanna Rohm was holding Isaiah, her two month old son, on her lap that\u2019s when she noticed that something was wrong and the baby was not breathing, she panicked and started crying for an ambulance that is when the two boys came to her rescue, one performed CPR while the other one offered instructions while waiting for the ambulance.<\/p>\n

The findings of the research study<\/h2>\n

People panic when faced with abrupt danger and this is a normal reaction. In this particular case if it was not for the kids or if the kids did not have a rough idea of what CPR was all about the chances of survival for the little one would have been slim.<\/p>\n

How CPR is done on an infant:<\/p>\n

Cases of accidents in infants<\/a> are common irrespective of how careful a parent or guardian is. It is therefore important to be armed with the basic tips that can assist in providing temporary help while waiting for the medics to arrive. A good example of an urgent scenario is when an infant faints or is not breathing all over a sudden. If the child is unresponsive these are some of the steps that can be used to administer first aid treatment on the kid;<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Shout and Tap<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Shout and gently tap the child on the shoulder. If there is no response and the child still cannot breathe normally then a different measure has to be taken. If the first trick does not yield results position the infant on his or her back and begin administering CPR<\/a> immediately.<\/p>\n

    2. Give 30 Compressions<\/p>\n

    Give 30 gentle chest compressions at the rate of at least 100 per minute. Use two or three fingers in the center of the chest just below the nipples. Press down approximately one-third the depth of the chest (about 1 and a half inches). This should be done in gentle manner and not as it is applied on an adult. This is because the ribs of the child are delicate and hard pressing may end up breaking one or more ribs.<\/p>\n

    1. Open The Airway<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Open the airway using the technique of lifting of chin. The tilting should be done in a way that the head is not pulled back so much.<\/p>\n

      1.   Give 2 Gentle Breaths<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        If the baby is not breathing or not breathing normally yet cover his or her mouth and nose with your mouth and give 2 gentle breaths. Each breath should be 1 second long. You should be able to see the baby’s chest rise with each breath you give.
