Key characteristics of Rosacea<\/h2>\n

Rosacea has in recent times become a relatively common disease affecting more people than in the past. The various characteristics of this disease essentially include central facial erythema, papules, visible blood vessels as well as pustules. It is essentially regarded as a chronic inflammatory disease but researchers are yet to understand the precise pathophysiology of this disease. In a recently concluded small study, it was suggested that patients having Rosacea face a higher than the average risk of being diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases. Key findings of the study<\/h2>\n

When conducting the study, 33, 553 adults were identified by the investigators and they had been diagnosed with Rosacea between 1997 and 2010. They were essentially matched for gender and age with about 67, 106 control subjects that were not having the disease. There was a significantly high likelihood of the patients<\/a> to be diagnosed with hypertension and dyslipidemia than the controls. After the adjustment of the data to control for the cardiovascular risk factors, patients with Rosacea were found to have a significantly increased risk of having CAD.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, the researchers also found that men having Rosacea were also at a much higher risk of getting peripheral artery occlusive disease, diabetes as well as cerebral infarction, which was not the case with women. Rosacea has an inflammatory nature which is essentially argued to be the main reason behind these associations.
