ASD or autism spectrum disorder has features that are associated with social & language problems and the physical feature characteristics are the ones that were known as linked with ASD, which was neglected in the area of study. In contrast to the diagnostic physical changes in other disorders like Down syndrome, the physical attributes seen in ASD are usually understated and they were missed out by some of the clinicians.<\/p>\n
Just very recently, there was a case control study that was published by Ozgen & his colleagues about the physical attributes of kids with ASD. They have compared two hundred twenty four kids with ASD and the usual intellect to match a child without ASD case. A part of the assessment was finished by the raters to determine the diagnosis of the child, hence the assessment have just concluded a diversity of quantifiable and qualitative assessments. For instance, in the quantitative assessment category, the boys with ASD contain lesser BMI thus their weight is lesser to the ratio of the height.<\/p>\n
There are common structural features that can be found in kids with Autism spectrum disorder or ASD. These are gap toes by around 59%, facial asymmetry of around 46%, atypical hair by around 39%, higher narrow palate of around 37%, ear lobes are attached at 35%, the hypermobile joints are around 33%.\u00a0 There are also features that were found in ASD patients that were not found in the two hundred twenty four controls that includes, asymmetry of the mouth, asymmetry of the eyes, the lobes of the ear have creases, they have big mouth, few facial expressions only and they have open mouth features.<\/p>\n
