Other hands only CPR facts showed the chances\nof living doubled for all forms of CPR compared to no CPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the increased\nadoption of hands-only CPR as a replacement to the standard CPR involving\nmouth-to-mouth and chest compression, the researchers studied the impact of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinecprcertification.net\/healthcareprovidercprcourse.php\">the straightforward Hands-Only CPR approach<\/a> and linked between the method of CPR performed\nand survival of the patient for 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br> A significant YOY Increase In CPR rates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We spotted a\nnoteworthy increase in CPR rates year over year, which can be linked to the\nhigher rates of hands-only CPR,&#8221; said Gabriel Riva, M.D., Ph.D. Student at\nStockholm-based Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Gabriel, who is also the author\nof the study, said Bystanders have a critical role in saving lives at the risk\nof out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. &#8220;Their actions be lifesaving.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;CPR, in essence,\nis simply a form of chest compressions. Compressing the chest alone doubles a\nvictim&#8217;s survival chances compared to doing nothing,&#8221; said Gabriel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Riva,\nthough the Swedish guidelines promote CPR that focuses on rescue breathing, it\nis not clear whether this technique beats Hands-Only CPR done by bystanders.\nThere&#8217;s an ongoing random test in Sweden trying to answer this question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Getting to the\nbottom of this is important because bystander-performed CPR before the arrival\nof emergency service is a critical determinant for survival in the event of an\nout-of-hospital attack. That explains why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naplesnews.com\/story\/news\/health\/2019\/05\/31\/hands-only-cpr-easy-learn-save-lives\/1284452001\/\">there&#8217;s a need to increase CPR rates by\ntraining more bystanders<\/a>;\nit could lead to more survival,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the United States,\nover 325,000 cardiac attacks occur out-of-hospital every year, according to\nstats by the American Heart Association. The department defines cardiac arrest\nas the sudden loss of heart function; it comes abruptly and may become fatal if\nprecautionary steps are not taken immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong> Hands only CPR statistics: The Study Scope and Research Findings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This study by the\nSwedish concentrated on bystander observed out-of-hospital cardiac attack\ninvolving 30,445 victims. Among them, 40 percent were not attended to by a\nbystander CPR while 39 percent were issued standard CPR.&nbsp; 20 percent of the patients received\nhands-only CPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The experts scrutinized\nthree periods (2000 -2005), (2006-2010) and (2011-2017) &#8212; when the\ncompression-only method of CPR was in practice within the Swedish CPR\nguidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the findings of\nthe study:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The rates of Bystander CPR went up from 40.8% in 2000-2005 to 58.8% in 2006-2010 and again to 68.2% between 2011 and 2017.<\/li><li>Compression-only CPR increased from 5.4% in period 1, shot up to 14% period 2 and 30.1% in period 3.      &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  <\/li><li>The rates of Standard CPR were 35.4% within the first period, shot up to 44.8% in the second period and dropped to 38.1 percent between 2011 and 2017.<\/li><li>Cardiac arrest victims who  received standard and compression-Only CPR were twice as much likely to survive 30 days, in contrast with patients who did not receive CPR for all the periods.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The limitation of the\nstudy was that it was based on observational data gathered during the third\nperiod and overtime, which comes with the possibility of miscalculation of\nrescue breaths and hands-only compressions before the arrival of emergency\nmedical services and missing data of other variables. Plus, because the\nresearch was Sweden-based, they may not apply to other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results recommend\nand suggested hands-only CPR as a CPR method because it is linked with\nincreased CPR rates and survival in out-of-hospital cardiac attacks. Plus, the\ndata here is in line with previous findings in America and Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the\nAmerican Heart Association, instant CPR can triple or double your survival\nchances after cardiac attacks. This intervention keeps the blood flowing, which\nextends the chances of a successful resuscitation when medical staff set foot\non site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve noticed how\nsensitive bystanders are becoming when it comes to issuing CPR due to its\nbenefits in saving the patient&#8217;s life, more so with Hands-Only CPR,&#8221; said\nManny Medina, an AHA volunteer, and paramedic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Over the decade,\nI&#8217;ve heard stories of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinecprcertification.net\/blog\/success-rates-for-cpr-certification\/\">people of different ages train CPR and use\ntheir skills to save someone<\/a> in the event of an attack.
